An inspector of the National Police and an agent of the force have been sentenced to pay 90,000 euros in compensation for damages resulting from the harassment to which they subjected a colleague for a prolonged period of time. The Social Court number 4 based in Puerto del Rosario (Fuerteventura) has also condemned the General State Administration for not providing an adequate response to the harassment situation that was brought to the attention of the National Police Corps.
The official, plaintiff in this procedure, is part of the basic scale of the body. She was a first-class agent and held the position of Head of the Operational Team of the Immigration Unit of the National Police in the town of Tuineje, dependent on Puerto del Rosario. It is a position that does not have well-defined specific functions, although it is known that she has to issue documentation (like her colleagues) and resolve any incidents that may arise in daily work.
The defendants are an inspector of the Fax Lists National Police (the plaintiff's direct superior), who visited her workplace every two or three weeks , and one of the police subordinates. The latter did not have a good relationship with his superior and it was clear that he felt uncomfortable with said hierarchy. It was he who told the inspector that the team leader “was dedicated to walking around the unit” and complained about the attitude she showed, repeatedly questioning her leadership and work effectiveness. During the visits by the occupational risk prevention staff, he stated that “it is very difficult to get support from the immediate boss.” This team showed that the work environment was not good and that “the conflicts.
According to the sentence, which is dated yesterday and which Economist & Jurist has accessed , these accusations are taken up and reproached by the inspector to the police: “one of the things they tell me is that you go out a lot, often, “Okay?” he snapped. The subordinate signed off and expressed to the inspector the “ feeling of anxiety about having to work side by side again” with his superior.
